Introduction

Planning Process for an Online Course

Think about the course learning outcomes and learning activities that you currently use to help the students meet the outcomes.

Would any of these activities translate to the online format? For example, a classroom discussion can take place online through a Discussion Forum.

Again, how will the achievement of the outcomes be determined?

What assessment processes will be used? According to Campbell, (2004), “The best learning assessments reflect a match between the learning activity and its demonstration in a real context.” For example, an assessment that involves a project related to a real world issue would provide a better measure of achievement, than a multiple choice test.

Below is a sample timeline for course development.
